The following day will see you heading out of the bustling mayhem of traffic to the peaceful countryside pavilions of the Summer Palace, a visual blending of Thai, Chinese, Italian and Victorian architectural styles, formerly used by the monarchy as a retreat from the stresses of rulership. You will also visit the grand historical ruins of the old capital of Thailand, Ayuthaya, dating from the fourteenth century, after which you will get waterborne again for a gentle cruise, which will give you a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery, passing by a floating village and absorbing the pace of river life on your leisurely return to the Pier in Bangkok.
