Day 1: Hanoi arrival (D, GP)
Upon arriving at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi , you'll be met and driven to your hotel. Welcome dinner at a good restaurant in a colonial building and traditional Water Puppetry

Day 2: Hanoi/Ba Be (B, L, D, G)
Drive to Ba Be Lake National Park (240km) through mountain scenery.
Overnight in a 'stilt' house.

Day 3: Ba Be (B, L, D, G)
Travel the river by motor launch through Puong Cave . Visit the Fairy Pond and Widow's Island . In the late afternoon, disembark at a Tay ethnic village.

Day 4: Ba Be/Ha Long Bay (B, L, G)
Morning drive to Ha Long Bay. Overnight in Ha Long.

Day 5: Ha Long Bay/Cat Ba Island (B, L, G)
Cruising on the Ha Long Bay and visiting some of the less well-known grottoes and caves. Seafood lunch on the boat. Afternoon crossing the bay to Cat Ba Island for your overnight accommodation.

Day 6: Cat Ba (B, L, G)
Hiking through the National Park forest. Picnic lunch at Viet Hai village. Back to the town's harbour by boat for overnight stay.

Day 7: Cat Ba/Hai Phong/Cuc Phuong (B, L, D, G)
Morning free time to relax on a nearby sandy beach. Hydrofoil trip to Hai Phong for an onward drive to Cuc Phuong National Park with a stop en-route visit to Van Long Nature Reserve by a sampan. Overnight stay in the National Park guesthouse.

Day 8: Cuc Phuong (B, L, D, G)
Wandering through a subtropical forest, visiting the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre, overnight in the National Park Guesthouse.

Day 9: Cuc Phuong/Ninh Binh/ Xuan Thuy National Park (B, L, D, G)
Morning drive to Ninh Binh. Visit to Tam Coc. Afternoon drive to Thuy National Park . Biking for a short ride along country lane road to visit a local market thence to the dyke of Xuan Chau village to see the migrant birds. Overnight stay with a local family.

Day 10: Xuan Thuy National Park/Hanoi (B, L, D, G)
Morning visiting Xuan Thuy National Park by motor boat where you can watch migrant birds and other kinds of natural life in the Xuan Thuy Wetland reserve. Afternoon drive to Hanoi for overnight accommodation.

Day 11: Hanoi departure (B, DP)
Free time until transfer to Noi Bai airport for your departure flight.

Please note that all our tours are priced in United States Dollars, in accordance with the established trading practices for tourism products within Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Equivalent quotations in £, Euro, Australian AUD are obtainable on request calculated at our prevailing exchange rate.

At the time of quotation, Haivenu reserves the right to adjust prices to take account of unusual movements in currency markets, hotel and transport costs as a result of inflationary price pressures in oil and other commodity markets.

* 'Single room occupancy' refers to the accommodation element of the programme only, and applies to someone who is travelling with others but requires an additional room for him or herself. Single traveller prices are available on request.

Our prices include:

•  Breakfast and accommodation sharing a twin or double room.

•  Pick-ups and transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle as specified in the itinerary above

•  Return domestic flight tickets: Hanoi - Hue , including domestic airport taxes.

•  Travel by private, air-conditioned vehicle with an experienced, safe driver.

•  Boat cruises as programme. For Ha Long Bay, you'll cruise on a high quality wooden boat with good facilities and an experienced crew. The boat will be fully licensed and comply with current safety regulations.

•  Speed boat ticket: Hai Phong - Cat Ba.

•  The services of experienced English-speaking guides as indicated in the itinerary

•  Where necessary, entry fees for all visits as mentioned in the programme.

•  Lunches and dinners, as specified, in the best local restaurants, picnics where suitable restaurants are not available.

•  VAT and other taxes

Hotel list for Mid-range standard:

•  Hanoi : Golden Lotus Hotel (** boutique hotel conveniently located in the city centre, a short walk from Hoan Kiem Lake - Deluxe room)

•  Ba Be: Park's Guesthouse and homestay in a local family

•  Ha Long Bay : BMC Thang Long Hotel (*** new medium-rise hotel, 15 minutes walk from Bai Chay tourist centre - Superior room)

•  Cat Ba: Holiday View Hotel (*** new high-rise building overlooking Lan Ha Bay, close to the beaches - Standard room)

•  Cuc Phuong: National Park accommodation complex on two main sites with rooms in blocks and stand-alone chalets. The latter are reasonably comfortable with air conditioning and a hot water shower, with a snack restaurant nearby. There's also an evening meal delivery service. (We use the Chalet rooms)

•  Xuan Thuy: homestay with a local family in Giao Xuan Commune or at National Park's Guesthouse (basic accommodation)

Please note that Vietnam hotels do not recognise provisional reservations, so specific hotels cannot be guaranteed until you have booked your chosen tour. As many of the better hotels are often full during the October to April peak season, early booking is advisable.
